Hardell settled in Town of Summit on 500 acre farm.<\/li>\n<li>1838 &#8211;\u00a0T.C. Dousman built first frame barn in Waukesha County on 400 acre farm known as &#8220;Ingleside&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>1843 &#8211; Elisha W. Edgerton received land grant for farm on Hwy I8.<\/li>\n<li>1849 &#8211;\u00a0Bark River School District organized.<\/li>\n<li>1850 &#8211;\u00a0Siloam Chapel organized.<\/li>\n<li>1860: Elisha W. Edgerton receives award for best farm in the state. His 320 acre farm later becomes The Wisconsin Masonic Home.<\/li>\n<li>1861 &#8211;\u00a0First Presbyterian. Church of Ottawa organized.<\/li>\n<li>1869 &#8211; St. Mary&#8217;s Episcopal Church receives deed to land on corner of Hwy s 18 and 67.<\/li>\n<li>1873 &#8211; George Washington Van Brunt purchases farm on highway 18, Van Brunt Mansion constructed.<\/li>\n<li>1881 &#8211;\u00a0Chicago and Northwestern Railway Co. complete railroad through the area.<br \/>\n&#8211; Griffith Thomas built a store and became the first merchant and first postmaster.<br \/>\n&#8211; The post office was moved from Utica to Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1882 &#8211;\u00a0First residence in Village of Dousman was built by Frank Martin. Corner of Hwys D &amp; Z.<br \/>\n&#8211; A Mr. Steinica built the first hotel, it burned down within two years.<br \/>\n&#8211; First Dousman Cornet Band built a Music Hall.<br \/>\n&#8211; O.H. Neff and G.A. Groop moved their respective businesses, a blacksmith shop and a wagon shop from Utica to Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1883: The subdivision of &#8220;Dousman Station&#8221; which would later become the &#8220;Village of Dousman&#8221; was platted on July 10.<\/li>\n<li>1883 &#8211;\u00a0Abram G. Hardell built the elevator and started a lumber yard.<br \/>\n&#8211; William Reid built a building which housed a print shop and a dry goods store run by Krueger Bros.<br \/>\n&#8211; Herman Claus built and operated a harness shop<\/li>\n<li>1886 &#8211;\u00a0G.A. Rogers established the &#8220;Dousman Leader&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>1887 &#8211;\u00a0Union Emmanuel Church was built on land purchased from A.H. Gifford for $50.00.<br \/>\n&#8211; St. Bruno&#8217;s Catholic Church was constructed.<br \/>\n&#8211; Griffith Thomas sells store to William Hunter and Henry Weiner.<\/li>\n<li>1888 &#8211;\u00a0President Grover Cleveland made a whistle-stop in Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1890 &#8211;\u00a0Residents organized a public school for Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>Bullfrog Station settlement has 150 residents.<\/li>\n<li>1891 &#8211;\u00a0Land purchased from E.L.Gifford to build a school house.<\/li>\n<li>1892 &#8211;\u00a0Mundschau brothers, John, Lawrence and Nick take charge of Griffith Thomas store.<br \/>\n&#8211; L.G. Bischel opens first tavern in Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1893 &#8211;\u00a0Mary Moody was the first teacher at the Dousman school, earning $1.50 a day.<\/li>\n<li>1896 &#8211;\u00a0L. G. Bischel builds hotel<\/li>\n<li>1899 &#8211;\u00a0Abram G. Hardell moved to the Village of Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1902 &#8211;\u00a0Dousan Volunteer Fire Department was established. . Nick Mundschau was president and A.C. Longley was Chief.<br \/>\n&#8211; Wisconsin Home and Farm School founded. (Lad Lake)<\/li>\n<li>1905 &#8211;\u00a0Willard A. Van Brunt estate deeds 319 acre farm to the Wisconsin Consistory. .<br \/>\n&#8211; Northwestern Railroad spur, &#8220;Tibbey Line&#8221;, runs to marl plant south of the Village.<\/li>\n<li>1906 &#8211;\u00a0Oscar A. Olson organized the Dousman State Bank.<br \/>\n&#8211; Wisconsin Consistory deeds Van Brunt property to the Consistory Home Association<\/li>\n<li>1907 &#8211;\u00a0Frederich C. Krueger founded the &#8220;Weekly Index&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>1908 &#8211;\u00a0H.M. Bischel takes over tavern &amp; hotel business.<br \/>\nFirst fish hatchery in the state, located several miles south of the Village. Eagle Line Products Co. developed the Marl beds. , .<\/li>\n<li>1916 &#8211;\u00a0Cy and E.F. Bischel partners in tavern and hotel business from their father, H.M. Bischel.<\/li>\n<li>1917 &#8211;\u00a0Territory known as Dousman is incorporated as the Village of Dousman.<br \/>\nNic Mundschau was first president of the Village of Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1918 &#8211;\u00a0Dousman residents baricade the streets and light bonfire in celebration of Armistice Day.<\/li>\n<li>1919 &#8211;\u00a0Cy Bischel serves ice cream and banana splits at tavern &amp; hotel during prohibition.<\/li>\n<li>1920 &#8211;\u00a0Waukesha County Dairy Show held in Dousman.<br \/>\nDousman population was 235 residents.<\/li>\n<li>1923 &#8211;\u00a0Main Street in Dousman was paved. &#8216;<\/li>\n<li>1926 &#8211;\u00a0First Staughton fire engine purchased and kept in small firehouse south of Dousman House tavern,<\/li>\n<li>1933 &#8211;\u00a0Bischel&#8217;s Saloon back in tavern business as prohibition is repealed.<\/li>\n<li>1934 &#8211;\u00a0Population of Dousman was 270.<\/li>\n<li>1940 &#8211;\u00a0F.C. Krueger sells &#8220;Weekly Index&#8221; &amp; print shop to George Ehrlich. Thus became the Ehrlich Printing Co.<\/li>\n<li>1950 &#8211;\u00a0Dousman&#8217;s population grows to 328.<\/li>\n<li>1952 &#8211;\u00a0Ruth Howard purchases Ehrlich Printing Co.<br \/>\nDousman Community Building burns to the ground.<\/li>\n<li>1954 &#8211;\u00a0Community Club holds Auction to raise funds for new Community Building.<\/li>\n<li>1955 &#8211;\u00a0First Dousman Derby Days celebration.<br \/>\nCy Bischel sells tavern business to Tom Stapleton.<\/li>\n<li>1958 &#8211;\u00a0Village adopts zoning ordinance for sewer and water service.<\/li>\n<li>1960 &#8211;\u00a0S. Jane Abbott acquires printing company.<br \/>\n410 residents in Dousman.<\/li>\n<li>1961 &#8211;\u00a0Union Emmanuel changed name to Emmanuel United Church of Christ.<\/li>\n<li>1963 &#8211;\u00a0Northwestern Railroad installs coal burning stove in depot office.<\/li>\n<li>1965 &#8211;\u00a0Railroad Depot closed.
